• victor is an 8-piece band that started with roots in folk and post-rock music who try create a sense of nostalgia by including heavy reverberated guitars and analogue synths mixed with banjos, acoustic guitars and drums •
• some dreams we scribbled down •
we have since grown to use more experimental techniques and approaches to our music, such as bowed guitars, timpani drums and saxophone. our songs vary between singer-songwriter style tracks, heavier full band tracks, and entirely ambient pieces.
we all have a background in music production and try to stick to doing everything as diy as we can to keep our music authentic, including mixing and mastering our own tracks.
our music has always been about personal stories and current global events. we feel very strongly about the lack of work done to combat climate change and a significant amount of our music covers this, taking heavy inspiration from the work and words of greta thunberg and her powerful speeches across the world, or the efforts of ernesto guevara and his attempts to bring inaquality to an end during the cuban revolution.
what we’ve been through together, alone, and events happening adjacent to our lives, around the world are very important to us, and this repeated concept of memories and the blinding effect of nostalgia runs through our music. how people always long for the thing they don’t have. everyone wants summer in autumn, and everyone wants autumn in summer, and it’s difficult to find the line where people will truly find comfort.
when we play live, we play to live projections behind us of found footage curated for each track, such as cam - corder footage we have collected from old family videotapes, as well as recent footage we have taken ourselves mixed in with experimental videos created through software like touchdesigner. some of the visuals also sample clips from other filmmakers - important works like the documentary 'lessons of darkness' by werner herzog and apichatpong weerasethakul's masterpiece 'memoria'.
